Rotary Youth Programmes

Men and women age 30 and younger participate in Rotary Youth Programmes to learn skills that will help them become future leaders.

Rotary’s youth programs allow participants to discover more about themselves and the world by participating in community projects, leadership training, or cultural exchanges. Young people also learn about the principles of ethics, service, and fellowship that Rotarians exemplify.

- In Detail

Rotary Youth Exchange

For over 75 years, students and host families have broadened their horizons through Rotary Youth Exchange. More than 80 countries and over 8,000 students each year participate in the program, which is administered at the regional level by Rotary districts and at the local level by Rotary clubs.

Rotary Youth Exchange students spend up to a year living with host families and attending school in a different country.

Whether they participate in Rotary’s long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programmes, they learn a new way of living, a great deal about themselves and maybe even a new language. They are also ambassadors, teaching people they meet about their country, culture, and ideas. They can help bring the world closer – and make some good friends in the process.

Rotary club volunteers administer the programme at the local level, which helps keep costs low for students and their families. These volunteers often offer years of experience with students, host families, and fellow Rotarians who are involved in the program.

Rotaract

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes them true "partners in service" and key members of the family of Rotary.

As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programmes, with more than 8,200 clubs in about 170 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.

All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.

RotaKids

RotaKids is a Primary School Citizenship programme mainly aimed at the Junior School age group, ages 7–11. The concept is developing fast and it can be developed to suit your local Rotary Club and your School.

The main objective is to introduce Rotary ideals to young people, as well as addressing citizenship, which is becoming a major theme in schools and an interested and willing teacher is an essential ingredient. The aim is always for the youngsters to have fun while they are raising money or serving the community.

The benefit of RotaKids is that it enlivens the curriculum whilst teaching citizenship and teamwork. They also have exposure to practical maths - such as counting money - making posters and programmes using IT and English skills. Production of an event could use Drama and Technology skills.

The RotaKids Pledge is
