About Us

The Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh on meets on Tuesday evenings at Sonning Golf Club, RG4 6GJ on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. The club was chartered in 1989 and is one of six clubs in the Reading area. We currently have around 35 members, both male and female.

Maiden Erlegh was the name used in the Middle Ages for the area that comprises most of what is now Lower Earley, Earley and Woodley, which is the main catchment area for our membership. The emblem of the Club includes a water wheel commemorating the old flour mill which stood on the site of the present Doubletree by Hilton Hotel at Mill Lane, Sindlesham and a black swan which was once a regular visitor to the nearby River Loddon.

The club undertakes many fund raising and social events, as well as providing direct support for local organisations and schools. These are described in more detail on the other pages of this site.
